Soccer

Selborne Primary has had a rich history of soccer since the 1970’s, producing top footballing talents throughout the years.

The beautiful game has been an important part of sport at Selborne for many years. Able to field at least 2 teams at u9, u11 and u13 the sport continues to see growth in its popularity. Selborne participates in the local East London Primary Schools Football Association with games taking place on a Monday or Thursday afternoon. Whilst games are not played against many of our traditional rivals, it is a good opportunity for our boys to see different schools around East London. Recently, our first ever soccer derby took place against Queens and proved to be filled with the usual excitement of games against these traditional opponents.

Soccer Kidz Academy

For those parents that are hoping their boys will become future Bafana Bafana players, Selborne is privileged to host the Soccer Kidz Academy. Run by current staff member and former professional football player Deeran Govind, the academy aims to provide further skills to those parents wanting more specialisation. The academy caters for boys from Selborne aged 5 to 13 and sessions are held at Selborne Primary every week throughout the year.

Tours & tournaments

The U11a and U13a teams have an annual mini tour to Gqeberha every year. This provides our soccer boys with an opportunity to travel as well and experience testing their skills against teams from further afield than East London.
