Selborne Primary was founded way back in 1872 and was named after the Second Earl of Selborne who, as High Commissioner in South Africa from 1905 to 1910, took a keen interest in the development of educational facilities around the country. From these humble beginnings the Selborne schools have grown into institutions where attitudes, skills, relationships and values are developed enabling our students to become enterprising, creative, innovative, caring and responsible citizens in an increasingly competitive and international environment.
As a Christian based school the underlying
principles of this faith form a firm foundation for our students
and add another important facet to their development as well rounded individuals.
An experienced and highly committed staff provide a learning environment that is balanced, stimulating,
orderly and caring. The boys are expected to be hard working, respectful toward each other and willing
to be adaptable to the many demands and challenges which they face as young men.The extensive extra mural programme offered caters for individuals of varying ability and interests. Activities as varied as string playing, drama, rugby and table tennis are available. This, along with a highly successful pupil exchange with two British schools provides our boys with many options and opportunities to develop.
One of the strengths of our school is the very intense parental support we enjoy while another is the happy, committed involvement of staff and boys.
Selborne is a vibrant, exciting place of learning where the racial and cultural differences of our pupils add to a rich heritage passed down over many years.
For those who are seeking the right place for their son, this will be one of the most important decisions you will ever make. I humbly suggest you consider Selborne Primary - an exciting school of thought.
